Himalayan Salt Blocks

How do I clean my Block?

Allow your Himalayan Salt block to cool completely first. Moisten the salt block with a damp sponge (do not use soap). Scrub with a soft brush or green scouring pad to remove any stuck matter, and wipe clean with the sponge. Try to keep the block as dry as possible – the less water the better. Repeat until the block is free of any cooked on food. Tap dry with a paper towel or clean cloth, and set on a drying rack. This process removes only a very thin layer of the salt and preserves a relatively smooth surface.

How long does a Himalayan Salt Block last?

Himalayan Salt Blocks can be used to Braai on or as cutting boards. If you follow the included instructions and look after them, they will last you at least 2 years. Our own blocks have been working for just more than 2 years and they still do their job.

Will my Salt Block melt on a Fire?

Himalayan Salt Blocks are mined from the Himalayan Mountains in Pakistan and cut to the sizes that we have available. They are solid and great conductors of temperature and will not melt when used for the Braai.

Himalayan Salt Lamps

How big should my lamp be?

Himalayan Salt Lamps are a great addition to any room, office or treatment room. To get the maximum benefit from your Himalayan Salt Lamp it is advisable to get the correct size for the area that you want to place it in. The general rule is for every 1sqm you need a 1KG Himalayan Salt Lamp to get the maximum benefit. For example – if your bedroom is 4x4m you would need at least two 5-7KG lamps to cover the whole area.

What Globe should I use in my Salt Lamp?

Himalayan Salt Lamps need heat to make them work and they use Oven or Pigmy globes. These globes should not be less than 14watt and is shouldn’t be an LED globe as they have no heat. The Oven/Pigmy  globes are available from most retail or hardware stores. You can also order them from us.

Why is my Lamp leaking water

Himalayan Salt Lamps are known to do this and it is called crying. Himalayan Salt Lamps are hygroscopic which means that they absorb moisture from the air and if they are not able to get rid of the moisture they start crying. This will happen for various reasons of which the biggest one is that they are not switched on enough. The heat from the light helps to get the moisture out and that is when the benefits are released. It is also advisable to not put your Himalayan Salt Lamp in a room where there is a lot of moisture.
